Azusa manages to stay ahead of Yuki as expected but Mio manages to get past Shana. Shana Season 3 was supposed to help Shana remain relavant and possibly boost her to new heights. However, it seems like Shana is weaker now than before. Perhaps reaching the finals twice is the limit of what she can do.

I don't think Shana weakened really, but rather K-On! has gotten a boost from the movie being available world wide now is showing, I mean Mugi almost beat Yami despite being a lot weaker than her, and Azusa was able to defeat post-disappearance Yuki who lost to last year. So yea I'd argue the K-On! girls have gotten a boost, not that anyone weakened.
Edit: AND Ui upset Kotomi too, showing the K-On! Boost more.
