for
IEM World Champs Day 4 (final)
:
And the champions are...CJ Entus Blaze! Huzzah!
Blaze accounted for SK Telecom swiftly in the semis. As for the grand final:
Game 1 - Blaze give up 4 kills in a horror 3rd minute and Frost kept that lead all the way with Templar on Vi.
Game 2 - Blaze come out firing. Helios gets Vi and things get out of hand rather quickly.
Game 3 - Best game of the tournament. Shy's Singed and Templar's Volibear caused havoc early to mid, but gradually Blaze with a farmed up Tristana on CptJack and Kha'Zix on Ambition gradually took control while Helios was clutch on Vi.
Game 4 - Xin Zhao finally doesn't get banned and Helios takes him right away. Woong gets baited into picking Miss Fortune (Urgot ban, Cpt Jack takes Ezreal) and Blaze picks up Zed for Ambition. Templar's Vi got Frost a kill lead early but Blaze always had the gold lead. Forcing Vi and Kha'Zix into fatal ultimate dives and exploding Miss Fortune made this a fast win for Blaze and gave them the tournament! Madlife being forced into picking Lulu every game to deny Lustboy eventually took its toll on top of being denied Thresh every game.
Regular bans for the games:
Blaze bans - Shen, Thresh, Xin Zhao/Urgot
Frost bans - Kayle, Caitlyn, Twisted Fate
MVP of the tournament is Shy from CJ Entus Frost and deserves it. Although I somewhat want to give it to CptJack from CJ Entus Blaze.
Really pleased that Blaze managed to pull this off. The hoodoo against Frost is finally over. Perhaps this will be the day that finally gives Blaze a consistent ascendancy over Frost. Or the one which makes Frost wonder whether they should find a better AD Carry than Woong...
The implications of this tournament on the LCS and next OGN will be intriguing.
