There is something odd about the hospital scene.

The last we see of Kanba before the flashback, he's leaning against the wall listening to Yuri. Then at the end of the episode, we see him asleep in pretty much the same position. And we know from Shouma's statement earlier that they aren't in Tokyo, so it's unlikely he rode a train to the city and back during the course of the flashbacks. I see two possible explanations:

A) It's a continuity error, or maybe they left out the flashback signal.

B) Sanetoshi and Himari aren't in reality anymore and Kanba is able to visit them in his dreams.

Unless I am completely missing what you are saying. That wasn't Kanba but Shouma & Kanba's "friend". The one we see in the first episode trying to get Shouma to go with him to look at girls.

Kanba was in the hospital with Himari the whole time.
