I've read/seen a couple of CLAMP works where there was not even a drop of BL subtext. I've also read/seen works by other mangaka or studios that also had bishie chars in them who just as easily could've have BL subtext applied to them (sometimes even more so), but it was not to be found throughout the entire story. Go figure.
