PIC = Passive Inertia Controling system. It destroys the laws of physics and allows the IS to do what it can do: like fly, no recoil, absorb impact, etc.
Laura's shield, isn't a shieild. Its a field. Its called the AIC. AIC = Active Intertia Canceller. By channeling the PIC and modifying it, a field can be generated that cancels any movement aimed at a moving body.
