It's subtle, but notice how the way he's drawn is very close to SD, and has a color pencil feel, when compared to the rest of the cast.

It's especially noticeable that he isn't too bad when he's at home, not in his school uniform. When he's in the uniform, they seem to squish him down and widen him pretty bad. When he's just lounging, he looks stocky and short, but relatively normal with the rest of the cast.
