One thing about Americans is that they have this general paradigm that nothing is impossible, and they have a knack of finding answers to age-old questions in their backyard instead of a science laboratory.

Just type in "Pulse gun" on youtube; people actually build that as a hobby with mere influence from science fiction. It is like telling reality "fuck you" in its face while mixing a exotic explosive to blow it up behind your back.

It isn't about intellectual capital - there is a need to have science to constantly influence and drive these kids rather than lessons in school. Given how the subjects are taught in school today, it would almost be correct to equate Creationism to the other subjects on the indicator of ridiculousness.
