You're way overreacting. The D. wasn't exclusive to Luffy's family at all before this. Look at all the D's in the series so far:
Monkey D Luffy
Monkey D Garp
Monkey D Dragon
Portgas D Ace
Portgas D Rouge
Gol D Roger
Marshall D Teach
Jaguar D Saul
More than half aren't even (bloodrelated) family to Luffy.
