I'm still going through it, but the manner with which this series handles characters has surprised me. Even more surprising is the overwhelming popularity of Misaka (and the relative lack of popularity of Index, even though the series seemingly centers around her - I guess that's why they created To Aru Kagaku no Railgun?). Not that I don't understand the appeal - Misaka is a very well-designed character.
I also feel that Kuroko is a very well-designed character. Her designated personality stands out and is quite flexible, lending itself to both comedic situations and more serious developments. Her voice actress is doing exceptional work with this show. Even though her character artwork isn't my favorite, I greatly enjoy her screen time.
