Freshman was created to fight against the magicians who invaded AC (ie Bardway's faction), but they went rogue and tried to get Accel and Shiage killed. Kuroyoru and Silver Surfer basically wanted to prove to the 'graduates' they're just as good as they were, despite in the old days being labeled as 'incompentant'.
