AFAIK they have yet to quit.
I'm not sure if in the ep they announced that they were disbanding, or simply holding a cease-fire. Seems like the former. However, I don't see how the Gundams are supposed to have affected this. Maybe the info in the classroom earlier in the ep has some clues - for example, maybe the org is on it's last legs and was looking for an excuse...
