The boy and the girl, however, I still can't figure them. Perhaps they are completely original characters, like Liaoyuan Huo's former teammates at the Handicapped Warriors.

Well shit caught up to the raw, and Zhao Yun 's life just got a little complicated.

So the girl is Lady Fan (fanshi) whom in the original novel is the widowed sister-in-law of Zhao Fan which he later attempted to marry her off to Zhao Yun, but was refused. Her fate was unknown after that event. In the RoT world she is the daughter of general Fan whom Zhao Yun was arranged to marry while disguised as Zhao huo all the way back before the events of vol 1 in order to strengthen the zHao family's millitary and political influence. Zhao Yun caring deeply for her, arranged her escape after he assasinate Xu Lin but it was implied that Xiao Meng did not retrieve her out of jealousy and misinformed Zhao Yun causing him to believe lady fan to be dead for something like 19 years.
Which leads into the next big revealation being that The boy is Zhao Tong, Zhao yun's son, and lady Fan is his mother.
