Well, Madoka was actually a three year delay. Aniplex said that the script was finished in 2008, but they waited until circumstances at SHAFT were ideal instead of ramming it through production come hell or high water. Under a typical arrangement, it would've aired long ago.
At any rate, the production shift was predicted (cutting down the number of productions allowed for a transition even as budgets continued to decline), so it's good to see it actually come true.
