I'm not that fond of the @comic art, but there are some really good expressions there.

Yeah, they made it too... cartoony/gag manga-ish? 8 chaps per volume is just right. but hey, the anime also does a good job. Although, trimming some not really important dialogue, they adapted the novel pretty faithfully.
