Because she was not yet born when the fungal virus thingy made another apocaliptic setting in a near future game, she was born in facility curious about the world she wanted to explore, then one day something happened to facility. Joel promised someone he'll take care of the girl now they're heading west.
Agreed this and Watch Dogs will be awesome.
