I doubt there were even legal marriage and consent limits during the 16th century (considering women were viewed as objects back then, more or less as children today)... I was surprised that 16 is considered
mature, and even more so that +2 years is considered
old But considering the lifespans then, and physical development of humans, the first makes sense, but not the second
