It's supposed to be like that. I can't tell you how many dozens of people e-mailed SC (when we released it before Viz licensed the manga) about those pages telling us how stupid we were for not noticing them and then apologizing profusely when they realized the truth.

Since there's no way to express the destructive power portrayed, Takahashi decided blank pages were the best possible solution. Of course, putting a little note saying "This is supposed to be like this." would ruin the entire effect... >_>

And the last story page in the Japanese edition is an outside view of the explosion in the school building during the earthquake. With the students looking on. The next page is blank aside from the sentence at the very bottom explaining that pages 24 through 27 were not mistakes.
