They said in the Nico Nico stream event-thing that it's been around a year and three months. I think. I'm not fluent in Japanese, but that's been the word around Livejournal.
As for the episode itself, firstly,
I love you, whoever you are, subbers. That actually threw me for a loop, as someone had posted a translation of the episode and explained Alois had a potty mouth, so when that showed up, I thought these were trollsubs for a moment. Good job, rofl.
Spoiler for secondly:
I'm starting to wonder what in the world is going on. The novelty of Claude's little dance number on the banister and his table setting habits has worn off after the fourth watch. Alois poking Hanna's eye out is still kind of hilarious though. Alois spent time as a Changeling... although, that uh, isn't how the legend goes, but whatever.
As I was saying, I wonder if Alois thinks Ciel was kidnapped by faeries, too? He is a little on the needy brat side, and he does things to get a rise out of people. I mean, he did give his Uncle the deed to his Estate and then tell Claude that he, too, should be laughing, and looked rather angry the butler wasn't responding how he wanted him to. Considering how Claude basically whipped his head around when Alois started talking about the little boy in that village, too.. hmm.
In any case, I noticed a few things this time around.
+ While Alois is laying in bed in the first scene, he's next to an older man. The man looks strikingly like Alois' father. (Check out the official site's character listing, I can't seem to find the image...)
+ The spider is eating a butterfly, also in the same scene above. Sebastian, in the preview, is represented by a butterfly. Claude is a spider. I wonder if these two go way back...
+ Alois was teasing Hanna. "I rob it of any future", or whatever it was he said. He was relating the egg to Hanna. Geez, I wonder if he poked her eye out just because she didn't react to that? Ilu, crazy brat.
+ Alois is a manipulative brat. To change his tune and be able to cry on cue-- you have to applaud him. Even if he's a brat.
+ Why does Alois care about Claude's expression? He throws money, and the deed, and even the horses' papers out to his Uncle, and then he turns and tell Claude to laugh. I don't get it; is he really that dependent on Claude that he needs his approval of everything he does?
+ Claude wasn't happy to let Se-- err, the Traveler, in. I wonder if the spot of sauce had been left purposely? D'hoho. Subtle little demons, they are.
+ Alois didn't seem to know the ring was in the tea. That's interesting. That, or he didn't care about it... Maybe the ring came into Claude's posession? Considering Alois, I wouldn't put it past him to have done anything to get it from the guy who Ciel gave it to as payment last season.
+ "I finally found you, Ciel!" Another kid who went missing, whom's parents died, and whom has a butler cloaked in black. Hmm. Alois is delibrately seeking Ciel out. I still think it's because he thinks Ciel is also a Changeling, but it's still really interesting.
+ Alois doesn't want Claude to leave his side. I wonder why?
+ The ring glows when Sebastian puts it on Ciel's finger. The ring is key to Ciel's revival, I think.
+ ...Is it just me and/or my monitor or are Ciel's eyes a much lighter color than they previously were? Is that significant or did they change the color pallete this season?
That was surprisingly long.
Sorry.
