Actually the way I interpret it was that the first asked her to turn him back and she wouldn't die for him. The first then stood in front of the sun right in front of her to show her that he would rather die than be a vampire.
I think the process wouldn't have taken that long, maybe a couple of minutes? Kissshot wanted to off herself by doing that but she was so powerful that not even that could kill her. It goes to show that the only sure way to kill a vampire is to suck out its existence.
