I did Emelita's route second since I heard how hard it was and having access to double action+sonic scream made it extremely easy. Can't help you there, but leveling up is your best bet most likely. Alternatively you could try giving both of them shields+X's guardian to cover each other in battle and hope RNG gods favor you..
If you have enough cash, try to upgrade armor as much as you can to boost your stats to help you in the fight, although that won't be cheap especially in your first playthrough.
