(Side Note: Jeez, I leave for a few days and the freakin' Apocalpyse comes...I've been demoted to noob status again. *sigh* Looks like it'll take me a whole two weeks to get out of it.)
Interesting point though...obviously SOMEBODY had to teach Gai about the Gates and Lotus. Wonder what happened to Gai-sensei's sensei? Maybe he died when Kyubi attacked? (Poor Gai...that would make him the last great teacher of Gouken-ryuu taijutsu!)
And another question...who do you think was on Gai's genin team?
