What was Tomino thinking back then? ;p Still he created my favourite death scene ever in Space Runaway Ideon.

Okay if I recall the scene, it was actually more sensible than you might think, if you're willing to suspend disbelief in the characters love of motorcycles a little.

Spoiler for Duker's Death:

If I recall, at the beginning of the episode he was saying how much he wanted to move to a cottage with his subordinate and retire after the war. This was of course not possible in life, so in death, he is seen trying to fulfill his wish and also as a metaphor. The trip to the cottage on his motorcycle (Something he values greatly) with his subordinate *checks MAHQ* Renda (Someone he loves) is a metaphor for entering the gates of heaven on a chariot. The cottage, his motorcycle and Renda at his side is Duker's vision of heaven.

Does that clear things up a bit more?
