Spoiler for Confused when...:

We saw his father coming home and then later it appeared like Eren blanked out with a dream and got the key from his dad. There seemed like a struggle? This confused me. If it gets explained later that is fine so no spoilers required. But I wasn't sure if it happened or not. Or if I missed something.

It was suppose tot be confusing, but it should be explained later in the series.

They did change this part a bit in the anime. In de manga after Eren graduated someone asks him if he knows anything about why his dad disapeared. When Eren tries to remember it, we get the confusing flashback and Eren collapses in pain.
