Also, I think there are tons of complaints about Asuna being a damsel in distress all over the place, so it's likely a director's imperative to break up Kirito's OPness with some Asuna.

It's not a reshuffle though, the scene with Asuna escaping was also at the same place at the end of Volume 3 so it's just following the light novels.
