Now, I may have been only introduced to the
Fate series via
Fate/Stay Night, I still equally enjoyed this. I'm always looking forward to anything from Type-Moon just because of their storytelling. Great to see good storytelling again in anime. It's been too far and in-between.
Several things pop out from the onset that I liked so far:
- FINALLY a background to the Fate characters, the Fate universe, and the battle for the Holy Grail.
- Loli Rin <3 Tsundere for life is all I will say. Haha. She is still my favorite character out of the Fate-series.
- Animation. Holy cow! With the people behind Kara no Kyoukai animating this, F/Z may end up being the best animated series this season, OR year. I'm hoping the animation quality doesn't falter in-between like many other high quality anime shows of past seasons.
Definitely gets my vote for best of anime of the season so far. It may have started slow and be very dialog heavy, but
KnK and parts of
FSN were about the same. It's good to see some background information on the past lives of the characters that make up the
Fate universe.
The OP sequence and song, it's definitely growing on me, plus I like LiSA's voice.
Oh, speaking of the summons, great to see that, as someone mentioned previously in this thread, they weren't just accidental but specific to each Master. Different war, different timeline.
And, since a lot of the background I've managed to fill through Type-Moon and Fate wikis and blogs, I wonder now:
How much of the prequel story is going to be animated for many of the characters that make up the Fate universe? Or will it solely focus on this specific War and the main characters that take part in it?
For example, Sakura Tohsaka (aka Sakura Matou). Her story is tragic simply put just from the start of her childhood on. I highly doubt they'd animate what has happened to her later on at the hands of Shinji. I already had my heart aching for Sakura seeing what Zouken did. *grumble*Friggin'-bastard-of-an-old-man*grumble*
Anyhow, I'm looking forward to the next episodes after this.
PS-
Honestly, for this series, I actually wouldn't mind the spoilers. I have no access to the novels nor do I know how to find them translated. I have, though, read summaries of the visual novel game itself however. So, I have gotten a lot of background information through them outside of wikis.
Any "spoilers" about the novels, I may have read it and if not, it'll be helpful to me anyway to learn more about this incredible story and series from Type-Moon.
