Well, the fact that the book itself points out a connection between Middie and Lady, and yet refuses to say what it is, is enough of an obvious hint that there is one either way.
That said, huh. I'd always pegged Une to be a reference to 11 somehow. I pronounce it Uhn, not Oon... And I'm fairly certain both the Japanese AND English dub pronounced it that way as well. I'd check but my DVD's are all at school...
