IIRC it was stated that kei colors are an indication of one's strength - in the OP, you clearly see the Heavens Blades jumping out with goldish auras, showing that they're the top dogs in terms of sheer power (cf. Layfon's kei in ep02 when he charged at the other platoon members), whereas people with blue/green keis are either moderately strong or just your plain, average joe.
