So far I've not seen any sign that radios even exist in this world.
Even the guy in the second-hand shop in
Haibane Renmei had a radio set (as for where the broadcast was coming from, is anybody's guess) but we've not seen any sign of broadcast media in this world.
Maybe it's another lost technology, or the big war screwed up the ionosphere blocking transmissions, or something.
