Personally, I'd do that cosplay (even though Kau is a dog...so? It means I get lead on a leash all day  ).
The character itself is blind and mute, meaning that there is a significant risk of injury or even getting lost if the lead is given to someone else. I've already thought of wearing a placard with specific instructions on how I'm meant to be used (yes... used) and communicating via rudimentary sign language (IE, rubbing tummy = hungry).
