I agree it's debatable.
Think about this this little mind experiment:
Imagine you'd get fragmented into your atoms and molecules. Then, you get fused back together exactly as you were before.
Is it still you? Objectively it is, same memories, same character, same conciousness.
But didn't you die when you got fragmented? Yeah, actually you did. Now that's tricky.
However, the problem here is that it isn't even exactly you, but you from 2 weeks ago. You continue to exist in this world, sure. After all it's YOU only from the past. But your present self? It can't continue to exist if time is reset. Present self has to stop existing.

It's confusing, but i got what you means..... xD
But the problem also come from both the technical and human's definition of "alive/exist " and "dead".
I means let just say "assume" future technology proved that the world around us constantly collapsed and reset every (let's say...) 24 hours.... It means you were just a clone, has being created for 12 hours with a fake memory, and gonnna be destroyed and replaced by the reset version in the next 12 hours.
Image in that case, everyone in the Earth would be in Endless Eight's condition, and we can't prove that we are not. Still most ppl would believe in their existence as otherwise the term "human" ad "existence" is no longer have its original meaning
That's why ppl believe in other existence theory that human is not only identified by only the physical body or the memories, but by many others.
