Seriously, the shock value (or not) of killing her off for real at this point would be undermined by time wasted building up to her leadership role.

did expect Cain's attack but, similar to the first episode, because he doesn't know the latter is a space vamp things won't go according to plan. He'll probably still come out on top of course.
