Besides I think all this showed is how much you enjoy your job depends on the work environment. Being treated like garbage all the time would make anyone desperate to change things. In the end the guy gained co-workers (for the bonus level), a good friend, and respect from the people he's working with.
I don't think this was "It's a Wonderful Life" at all, because things did suck for him. It's better because things really did change and not because his perception changed.
