And the immigrants don't trickle into the cities? I have at least two immigrants working at my workplace in Milwaukee. Yes a lot of this trickle may be into the farming and overall I don't think it is really fair the process we have in place for immigration, but until we figure out a way to better our own job problems why let more possible compromises to the job market waltz in (even if it is not as affecting than it is at first glance). Immigrants do trickle into the workforce beyond just farming jobs (which tends to be mostly those from Mexico).
Either way I can see where you are coming from I just personally believe we should fix other things before allowing for a better immigration system. With all the rest of the world struggling I can imagine if it was easier to get into the U.S. we'd have even more immigrants than the norm trying to get in.
