In the first volume, only Azuma and the ghost girl had physical contact with her, and we didn't have a confirmation of, if the Miriam Poqou (or however that was spelled) that Azuma acknowledges is the same as the Miram Poqou the class knows... Eh, but I guess I'm just thinking too much. xD

Well, my theory was that:

Miriam is also some sort of a ghost/phenomenon who only Azuma can perceive visually; she never shows up to class, possibly because no one can perceive her, or because she is bound by some sort of limit.

On the other hand, aside from what you mentioned, Heidi did mention that she and Azuma were held in by guards or something, so perhaps that shoots down that possibility.
