How can that be? His mecha is carrying a sword. It has high speed burst to get in close to its opponent. Its special move is hitting enemies through their shielding. Close quarters fighting should be Ichika's area of specialization. He can't ask for any better battleground than one in which his opponent is entrapped in an enclosed area.
