Honestly, I kinda like the failed version more  Blending is better in that one. Also, don't make your sigs monochrome, add some complementary colors in there!  Also, for the lighting in the first one, on the top left, set that to linear dodge or screen (depending on the brightness), and lower the opacity because it's too opaque right now.
