It was probably also to disguise the kirara's real target a bit back in season 1, when it worked best when both Chieri and Nagisa were together.

I don't want to imagine your reaction if he does something like making everyone believe Chieri was a spy all along. God, just thinking about that makes me sad.

Oh be warned, I come up with all sorts of graphic and disproportionately violent threats to people who are mean to girls I like in these shows. If he were to do something like that to her... I don't know if any of my normal ways of wanting to kill villains would be strong enough punishment. I may have to come up with something special should that happen.

For such a big Chieri lover you're being quite soft on Nagisa. She needs to be shaken like a piñata about to burst. I don't really hate her, but she needs to get her act together. And stop crouching in the floor like her favorite pet just died.

Well I do tend to be soft on girls unless they do something to get me angry, but that's not the only reason here. You can't really shake or slap sense into Nagisa. It tends to take something special to really get through to her: saying the right words or showing her the right thing to make her have an epiphany, and I don't feel that I have a clear enough view about what specific issue regarding the elections is bothering Nagisa to be able to do that just yet. There's the general concern about how well she'll do and the issues about competing against her friends and mentors and such, but I don't really feel those are quite the full story of why she's acting so mopey. So while I think it would be possible to shake her out of her immediate lethergy and back into being an idol (or inspire her out of it, as we saw here), I suspect whatever the bigger issue is that's getting her down has yet to be fully resolved, and it's going to take something... else to solve it.

That part when she's alone with Nagisa and goes "you really think so?". THAT FACE.
