Well for me, the guns have to feel pretty powerful and satisfying, and Enemies to feel tough and smart. If the weapons sound & feel weak, and enemy AI is too simplistic, then it'll feel too generic for me.
Hmmm.....I'm tempted to make a thread on my preferences for a FPS game. When I talk about FPS games with my brother, I usually recite my 5 golden rules for a good FPS.
