Oh dear, seems I'm slipping a bit on response time.
Quite an update, I must say. Was worth the wait.
Spoiler for Mami Returns!:
An interesting way to resolve the conflict, and a rather amusing use of Kyubey. I'll admit I'm a bit unfamiliar with Mami and Kyoko's past history, but I at least know enough for this to "work" for me.
Meanwhile, it was both funny and utterly adorable to see Sayaka completely forgetting everything that was going on, just to give Mami a big hug. I absolutely love that part. So fitting of her.
Anyway... I knew in advance I qualified for "Endless Love," due to the fact I only reversed a single Mami-related decision to get the Mami Dies! side, so I didn't really bother with actually calculating things. On the other hand, if I reversed everything related to her, I'd never make it here in the first place.
Spoiler for Harem Master Madoka:
It's somewhat amusing that Mami ended up wishing for cake here. You'd think her deathly encounter with a certain pastry-themed witch would've turned her away from the stuff...
I have to admit, I'm a little upset about not getting to see Madoka's "aggressive seduction" of Sayaka. The thought of Madoka, of all people, flirting with anyone so flagrantly is something that really does intrigue me... simply because it's a silly idea. Ah well, guess that'd probably be in violation of a rule or two here.
Meanwhile, Madoka's stalker Homura deciding to "invite" herself into Madoka's growing harem was rather amusing... I'd feel a bit more sorry for Madoka if she weren't already seeing two other girls at the time.
Part of me wonders if Kyoko tried seducing either Mami or Sayaka after finding out about the alternative to Grief Seeds... though I'd imagine Sayaka would've probably reacted negatively to it.
One last remark... is it hilarious to anyone else that, in order to qualify for what has so far been the happiest ending, you have to ignore one girl and watch a second get beaten up, all while having at least a moderately positive affection level with one that you have to let die?
... And since I don't feel right leaving out the other ending...
Spoiler for Witty Remark about the Ending:
Not even Mami's presence is guaranteed to prevent Oktavia's debut performance... If it weren't for the other end of this subroute, I probably would've given up on saving PM Sayaka at this point.
And... Homura has to die... again... wow, poor girl really can't get a break, it seems. Though I will say it's especially harsh in this case, as most people getting this for real would have had to have ignored or outright insulted her to get here. On the other hand, I suppose she died with the knowledge Madoka would be spared her usual fate, so that's probably a good thing.
Moving on. Mami being angry with Kyubey... what a stark contrast to their normal relationship. Don't get me wrong, it makes sense in the context of this ending, I'm just saying that's quite a change.
Also... is it safe to assume that... when you say Madoka never saw Mami again... no, I'm probably reading into things too much, given the previous portion of this. Obviously she simply avoided Madoka after that last meeting... right?
As for the last portion... I'll definitely agree with you that Tsumugi has quite a bit in common with Mami. In fact, my fondness of the keyboardist probably contributed to my liking Mami.
Ah well... all in all, a nice little "silver lining" ending to this section, pairing a lonely ex-magical girl with a lonely yuri fan.
As for the other side of things...
Spoiler for Alliance:
Y'know... if I didn't know better, I'd actually swear Kyubey genuinely cared about what happened to Homura and Sayaka...
Being alone at school on a Saturday night... I'm sure that would seem like a nightmare for most students. Of course, what happened after that was probably the more nightmarish experience for Madoka. A magnificent description of the menacingly maniacal mastermind and his mad mechanical monstrocities... wow that was a lot of M words.
And it seems that Joker isn't the only one Jinnai has been taking cues from... though he's far less wrinkly than a certain other emperor.
Er, back to seriousness. Quite a backstory you've crafted... "horrifyingly amazing" is quite accurate, both for it and what came after... So anyway... this is the way the world ends, huh? Not with a whimper, but with pink ribbons... never saw it coming. Well, Sayaka is safe for the time being, though there's still the matter of Homura.
By the way, I love the added reference to Mami's naming habit. Though, I wonder if Madoka really knows enough Italian to do that... ah well, I think it's worth it for the reference.
Anyway, here's to hoping Madoka manages to give Homura a vacation from her "permanent vacation." *lifts a martini glass*
Let's see... did I say I enjoyed it yet? Better to be safe and say it again than risk not saying it at all.
Great update here, looking forward to the next one.
