Marika Kato, main character of Mouretsu Pirates, who begins the show as an honors student in high school... And then learns that her old man is now in Davy Jones' locker, and she's inheriting his ship and his Letter of Marque. Over the course of the show she grows from being an ordinary high school student to becoming a skillful pirate (well, privateer, really) captain. Space combat, diplomacy, negotiations (financial and aggressive)... Marika blows most of this year's anime pratagonists outta the water.
KYH may be rich from her parents; Marika is well off from her own efforts, and actually managed to negotiated a guaranteed income of 100 million dollars (payable over ten years) during one of her jobs...
Oh, and while her normal transport is a bicycle, her work ship is a heavy cruiser-class space ship.
BTW, note that in this verse Marika is a legal pirate - such things existed, cf Sir Francis Drake-, and has the legal status of a naval reserve officer. she's not the other sort of loot and plunder pirate (her first space engagement involves goingnup against an armed merchantman that's trying to capture a ship loaded with schoolgirls). In fact most of the legal pirates seen in the show, pirate costumes aside, run their ships like well drilled Navy crews. (Probably helps for her ship that her father was a naval officer himself, before his old man kicked the bucket and he went home to carry on the family business.)
Fascinating show, and needed a helluva lot more love.
Anyway at the end of the day, KYH's influence has been only in the world of brain burst. Marika's influence is over interstellar distances and events.
