I just finished watching this series. Overall I can say this series suffered a cast too big to handle in the amount of episodes it had. The result character interactions that we saw are nothing short of gorgeous, however the large majority of the characters feel shallow for the most part. The series did benefit from having a set of very strong ending episodes (the last 5) but what cannot help but remember a lot of the, more trite episodes that preceded them.

Comparing it to K-On is inevitable given the somewhat similar nature of both series, and I think the later ends up being the better, at least for me, in large part because of the smaller size of the cast in K-ON that allowed it to have a more focused structure. Production values wise I have nothing to complain about in IdolM@ster, however in the overall balance I think Idolm@ster doesn't really manage to stand out.

7.5/10
