The more I read your posts and the more I think about it, the more the theory that Miyu is from an alternate universe makes sense. It's definitely withing the realm of possibilities with Zelretch being involved in this story (even if he's only got a minor role).

It is a bit cliche, yes, but that is done on purpose for the sake of parodying the staples of magical girl manga/anime. The chapter where Miyu transfers to Illya's school (Illya even commnents on how cliche this development is) and is portrayed as a total Mary Sue was a good example. Such a funny chapter.
