Bane is from the fictional island known as Santa Prisca, which has its roots in Spanish Colonialism history. Tom Hardy is an English man, so that's already not a good casting sign. Given Nolan's track record, however, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

This film had better depict the real Bane. He's not a mindless brute; he's a physical powerhouse with genius level intellect. I expect to see this reflected in the movie.
