Oh, detective mystery! That said, Diomedea kinda worries me.
Let's see the staff lineup: - Director Shouta Ibata is a prolific animation director and key animator. He made his directorial debut on Kancolle, and he also directed The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent. He will also direct its second season (release date TBA). - Wataru Watari (yes, THAT Wataru Watari) is Series Compositor. - Character Designer Masakazu Ishikawa also did the anime character designs for Saint's Magic Power but also did the character designs for Ika Musume, World Break, and Aho Girl. - Yo Tsuji will handle the adaptation's music. He had worked on the soundtrack for Dantalian no Shoka and Miss Hokusai.

Hmm... I don't know how I feel about this, it's not like Case Closed where you get have the chance to figure out who the culprit is, I don't know what to think, who wrote th... oh, Amano Akira? So that's why the artstyle looks familiar ... well shit, this turned into a must watch.

The pacing is a reminder here that we're basically passengers in Kamonohashi Ron's Wild Ride. Almost no room for trying to guess who is the killer. That said, we actually got a case that didn't start in a locked room, lol.
So why does Kamo have an unusual ability to brainwash the culprit into taking its own life? I guess that's gonna be among the many questions that would be answered (hopefully!) within the show's runtime. For now, it's a bit iffy but not as worrying as how the OP sounds.

Yeah, doesn't help that this is coming off the heels of Undead Girl Murder Farce which actually had decent mysteries. I'll probably keep watching it because Ron at least looks like he'll be fun. But, I've severely lowered my expectations on the mystery part of the show.

I have to wonder why Kiku sent a bunch of guys just interested in advancing their careers to see Kamo? Did he want to use Kamo to knock down those guys a peg? Because I can't imagine he thought people like that would be a good match for Kamo.
It is kind of hilarious how things are working out though. Kamo is a great detective, but he can't help but will the culprits to kill themselves . Which I guess isn't the biggest thing for serial killers like that. But I suppose if you bring him into less severe cases that's a high price to pay! Plus I guess the police can't openly work with someone with such a perfect fatality record! Well in the end this all worked out wonderfully. Case is solved and no one is dead! What a win .

Ron Kamonohashi is an ace detective! So much so that he excelled at a literal school of ace detectives! It's just too bad about the whole "make culprits kill themselves through Geass" thing .
You can't beat the energy and vibrancy of a Unison Square Garden OP! They're always the perfect artists for a show about an odd couple dynamic, especially when you've got Toto and Ron running around after culprits and Ron changing outfits for the heckuva it. Also, two dead women in one OP . Ron is all energized and ready to solve crimes again, which is hard for Toto to keep up with his mood swings. But it's certainly entertaining . One detective wants Amamiya to step on him? I don't blame him . So Ron can't just come in and solve cases on his own, he's an unlicensed detective and if BLUE, the academy for ace detectives, finds out he's solving crimes again...they'll kill him. And that means Toto has to take the credit for solving their cases, which is good for him because nobody else in Investigation Divison 1 takes him seriously and just gives him trash cases Is Ron faking identities and dressing up undercover going to be a thing? Because it's hilarious. Especially when Toto has to cover for him . So how is a riverbank murder connected to the case of an impregnable piggy bank? Well, because said murder was committed WITH a piggy bank. You gotta love when two random cases connect, though I guess of course this had to resolve in murder . It's hard not to feel at least some sympathy for the culprit. The victim was her stalker who attacked her in her home and she killed him in self-defense. Her mistake was not reporting it and trying to hide the body, which is what made her a criminal. But she didn't deserve to drown courtesy of Ron. Bad enough her sister has to deal with her big sis having killed someone and covered it up, she doesn't need to see her drown to death within the same day. And hopefully they do take into account that, despite her crimes, she was still the one who was attacked and just defended herself in the end. Although neither girls got names . Amamiya has a crush on Ron? I see this ending well . BLUE is onto them! And there's apparently detectives for every classic mystery style at the academy, and two of the teachers are voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda and Ryusei Nakao. Ron and Toto better watch out, even as they're starting to grow into being partners ! The ED is cute and serene with a bandaged girl singing it and featuring Ron's daily routine at home and with Toto. Seems like this girl is destined to meet him .

Man, Ron is merciless! There has to be something in his own background that makes him that way. I mean he was ready to drive a woman to drown herself that killed the stalker actively attacking her. There are no exceptions to his "killers must be killed" mentality. Well the mentality of a part of himself. The rest of him doesn't seem particularly happy about driving people to suicide. He just can't control it or stop himself from doing it. And it's only after he wakes up later that he can see how things play out.
Good on Toto. He's got a lot on his plate making sure that these killers aren't killed themselves. But his will to act is a huge asset. And I think he'll steadily get better at playing the role of detective. Amamiya can shelve all her criticism of Toto going forward. She couldn't even stop an effectively brainwashed civilian from drowning herself. Maybe she should hit the gym and spend less time putting down her subordinates! We don't know much about that stalker, but from what we saw...that's a pretty justified case of self-defense. She only appeared to hit him once and only because she was chased down and actively being attacked. If they take that into consideration she should be ok. Though it was the wrong choice to cover it up. I get freaking out over a dead body. People make poor choices.

BLUE is on Ron's trail! He's not going to get away with unlicensed detective work on their watch! Even if he's got someone backing him up to make sure he doesn't kill anyone this time .
Is that the two sisters from the last episode in the OP? Does that mean they're going to appear again ? Nothing says you're stuck in a buddy cop duo quite like having to ditch work for an "emergency" that turns out to be something mundane. And poor Toto has to foot the bill for Ron's expensive pet food. That cat better appreciate it . Ha, they even win the prize for a hot springs visit and get mistaken for a gay couple. These two really are stuck together . Dang, they really cheaped out on these tickets. Not only do they not even get to stay at the main inn, but they're stuck at the run-down annex that is so cheap they couldn't even get their own professional pamphlet. And of course there's not only the legend of a human sacrifice (perfect background for a murder) but the BLUE investigator here to catch Ron and they're already trying to out deduce each other . Nothing beats catching your boss buck-naked in the hot springs, huh? Even get a full view of Amamiya's fine behind in all it's glory. Poor girl was so excited she ran into the Men's Bath and got to give her crush Kamoo-sama (and Toto) quite the view ! Amamiya looks cuter without makeup! But also good on her for managing to defuse a squabble between the married couple even if it's because she was drunk from shame . I can't believe Ron actually managed to rope the other guests into the game of life. And Toto was actually winning! The hubby and the short-haired girl both talked about wanting do-overs of their life, which could be motive for murder . And...of course the wife gets killed. I feel sorry for Sachiko that she has to be found dead naked in the hot springs, not that it stops Ron from getting up close and personal . Jeez, this dude really tried to accuse Amamiya of murder? I guess she was so drunk she doesn't really have an alibi, but at least Ron knows it's not her...even if deducing as much is just giving the BLUE detective exactly what he wants .
