King of Bandit Jing OVA

I notice that the King of Bandit Jing posted is an OVA. I'm not sure if there was a previous TV incarnation or not, but Madman entertainment has licensed some form of King of Bandit Jing; it was on a trailer I got on a recent DVD purchase from them. Info can be found at http://www.madman.com.au/catalogue.php . The first episode appears to be called "The Capital of Thieves", if that helps.

Im not sure if this is the best forum for this, so please feel free to move it to a more appropriate forum if it fits.

The 13 episode TV series is licensed. As far as we know the 3 episode OVA series is not.

"The Capitol of Thieves" is the title of the first episode of the TV series, so we can be certain which one you are referring to.

According to cdjapan, DVD2 will be out in Japan on March 10th. CDJapan doesn't (currently) list any more Seventh Heaven DVDs, so this may be the last one.

Well I just watched the first ova ep and I must say my curiosity is grabbed by this show. I have never heard of it before, tv OR ova, but this looks cool, and just quirky and different enough to really grab my attention.

If the OVA does get licenced, I really hope it is available (unlike almost everything good anime-wise) here in Oz.... American imports are just far to expensive to even remotely consider buying. Better off paying for a Japanese language course and then import the originals I may be able to almost afford it without winning the lottery that way...

I downloaded this, but for some reason there's an audio codec I don't have that it needs, and the error box never specified exactly what it was, just gave some number... Tag 8192.

dunno what to make of it... you guys have any idea?

Australia's getting better - Madman, whom I mentioned, is the Australian distributor for most anime down here. King of Bandit Jing (TV) is available from them, and I recently purchased the first few Full Metal Panic, Escaflowne, and Angelic Layer discs from them.

Now I just need to wait for them to release Saikano (they've got the license, apparantly) and Hikaru no Go (Pfft, good luck), and I'll be in heaven

It uses AC3 audio. Look in the playback forum for how to get it to work. It's just a simple audio program dload.

I was wondering the same thing myself. Is this OVA worth getting if you haven't seen the series?

I've heard the TV show mentioned as one of those under-represented anime classics and I'm

Bandit King Jing is a really good series as far as characters, animation, and music go. It lacks any sort of lengthy plot though, which is its downfall. Its high point is how well everything is drawn and the choice of colors. I consider it to be one of the best drawn series around.

After having the OVA sitting on my hard disk for a week I finally watched it and said:

Whoa

This looks like a pretty good anime! I realize that this ep is about
Spoiler:
In what other ways did the TV series differ/not differ from this OVA?

Thumbs up King of Bandit Jing OVA ... Wow!

The TV series was licensed, so the first two OVAs here on animesuki is the first thing I've ever seen of this anime.

I gotta say I'm now very interested to see more of this. The OVA has such a wild pace to the storyline that doesn't seem to care if you get lost... and it has the visuals, soundtrack, and overall coolness to back that up. So far it's one of the best animes I've seen around here in quite a while.

Has anyone seen the TV show? Does it have the same feel and creativity level?

Honestly, the TV series may be about the same thing but none of the episodes I saw on the first DVD had any of the appeal that this new OAV does.

It's seriously trippy stuff, the kind of "OMG they must have been on drugs" stuff that bad acid trips are made of. It's great.

how come they only made the 4th book an ova rather then adding it to the series?

What's trippy? The TV show or just this OVA?

By the way of the characters design and silly humor I woundn't be surprised if the TV shows were for young shonen or uh... what's that word for boys below shonen? I was thinking of anime like Yaiba or Papuwa which are good for youngsters but frankly can't be watched by mature audiences.

I haven't seen the OVA yet, but I seen the TV. The TV is quite good. Interesting ideas and creativity.

But then again I like the series because of the TV opening. ^^
