Two very big thumbs up for this episode, one of the most hilarious episodes of anime I've seen. Watching Makoto in action is like watching a train wreck in slow motion, as he invents new and interesting ways to mess up his dates. It all led very nicely to the big slap.

Little touches such as his run-ins with Otome and giving the book to Taisuke served to highlight Makoto's ineptitude. Not only does the guy lack the talent, luck is not on his side as well. He seems to dig a bigger and bigger pit for himself with every action - and does this almost unconsciously.

It will be hilarious to see just how it all comes back to bite him. It seems almost seems inevitable at this point - it's like building a tower of blocks in Jenga; you can only take so many pieces from the base before it all crashes down...

I didn't like this episode as stated in the general discussion. The date was so uncomfortable to sit through and Makoto was being a total jerk.

Spoiler for later episodes:

In later episodes he would at least admit that he has feelings for Kotonoha and try to understand her, but this episode was just really shocking in a bad way.

The series is cute, but I wish the male led wouldn't turn into an idiot quite so fast..
Romantic tension can be maintained without the main characters becoming completely self absorbed..

Still, it's fun so far.. I'll keep watching.

He did try to move in a little too quickly, especially when he knew before-hand that the girl was very shy. It was rather inconsiderate, EDIT:and he's an utter moron.

Spoiler for episode ending:

Happy they made up at the end, I wasn't expecting her to return, really. She took the lead as well, what a dynamic character that Katsura is. And thumbs up for the grabbing action.
