Does GENDER of a singer matter?

it doesn't really matter much to me, i suppose. it depends on the style and the song. generally i listen to male singers though (i'm a girl).

It doesn't really matter to me all that much. Yes the majority of my music is with male vocals...but if a girl can rock out, then I'll listen.

Paramore and Flyleaf are up there for chick bands, IMO.

The gender of the singer in vocal music does not bother me at all. I like listening to both.

It doesn't matter. Although most of the Jpop I listen to are mostly female artists. Mainly because of the music. If I like it, I'll listen to it.

for me music is music and i just like w/e is "good" to my ears without any regards to the genders but i've noticed that the songs sang by women are some much better for making amv's lol

well I don't like ballads sung by males. ballads are a thing to be left to female vocalists. Males should only do death metal.

I and male like both either way, but some songs sung by female artists specifically to males that I like I find uncomfortable singing along for obvious reasons. For J-Pop, my ratio of female:male singers is about 4:1.

While women can reach a higher pitch, I believe that men have more variety in their voices.
I prefer male singers myself for this reason, but females have a lot to offer as well. None is better than the other.

I prefer melodic voices, whatever the gender is. In metal, for example, you can listen to many soft voices of male vocalists such as Opeth, Angra...
Nevertheless, concerning Jpop, I do not like male singers but it would be quite difficult to explain it. The visual aspect must probably be very important^^

For me it doesn't matter, I like both just the same. But I've found out that most girls like a certain bands just cause they think the lead singer it "hot." and don't like they're music at all. I don't know if this is the same with boys though.

I don't like men singing mellow/romantic song, but don't mind for J-Rock/Metal. That's why in my collection there are much more females than males singer.
