You could try Ghost for Linux, I shouldn't recommend it as I have never used it myself, but I have heard good things about it from my colleagues.

I use TrueImage in Windows (paid for ) and for Linux, I backup my data and if it were to go wrong I would do a full reinstall.

Make sure you test it out properly first! Never rely on a backup software without giving it a good bash. I learnt that with Ghost 9... *sniffle*

http://sourceforge.net/projects/g4l

EDIT
Hmmm just remembered that NTFS writing is experimental in nix, so it might not be a good idea to use a nix based imaging product for a NTFS partition... Anyone else got experience with this?

The stuff I use all are freeware but some (Commodo) require registering their product via email. Note all are for Windows OS'. All but Mediacoder I've had a while and have run without issues on a fairly basic laptop. I find most of these utilities in particular the Open Source utilities are light and don't eat up unnecessary space/resources and do a really good job.

Security/Antivirus:

Commodo Firewall
Commodo Antivirus
Lavasoft Adaware
Spybot Search and Destroy
CCleaner (registry and uninstaller tool)

Document/Imaging tools:

PDFCreator - Open SOurce
GIMP (clunky interface but if you don't have the $ to spend on Photoshop it does a good job Open Source)

Audio/Video tools

Mediacoder* (still learning to use this but it claims it can do a hell of a lot in terms of transcoding exotic file types Open Source)
Audiograbber - Cd ripper
Virtual DubMod
AlltoAvi

Burning utilities

Infrarecorder (very good simple to use GUI open Source)

Music/Recording Software
Audacity
Kristal

IRC Client
ICEChat

There is another "free" program for word processing, StarOffice from Google.

StarOffice normally sells for $70 or so, but if you go to Google labs and get their downloads updater, one of the offerings is StarOffice.

So if you click it, you get it for free!

I love StarOffice - I used it with Linux a few years back. Have you tried OpenOffice? OpenOffice

I think I read somewhere how OpenOffice is derived from StarOffice. I'll look into it later.

I found some information regarding that issue that OpenOffice is derived from StarOffice. Here is a webpage that seems to explain it (or at least makes the statement) - http://web.mit.edu/ooffice/www/home.html .

Looking for some programs...

Lots-to-see-program
~Well, Google haven't been a lot of help to me
I hope someone can help me, i am looking currently for a program that can help me watch the PC resources, hard drive space, date, etc in a little window (Of course, without using the task manager)
Hope someone knows name, clue or link, anything goes
(Oh, i even have seen some with anime characters, like Fate/Stay Night Saber and others, hope someone knows about this too )

Icon Maker
~The other issue, it's about that, an icon maker.
I know that they're lots of programs to do icons, but i don't know which one it's the best, hope someone can help me in that too.

Rainmeter is prbly the best for doing the above. Someone on this forum makes some really good skins for it, but I'm sorry to say I can't remember who it is now , they made a really good Sui one.

I'm using Everest myself. It looks like this. (The things at top right)

As for a icon software. I use Axialis. The icons you see on the screenshot are made with Axialis Icon editor. Here is a video tutorial how to make them

Some other software utilities for keeping your Windows based PC in tip top shape

Auslogics DiskDefrag (Free) - fast, much more thorough than your XP/Vista defrag. My experience has been it gets an additional 5% more than your standard defrag.

HDTune (free) - HDD benchmarking and error checking tool

DriveImageXML (free) - makes an image of your HDD on another HDD. Useful for backup of complete systems

Darik's Boot and Nuke (free) - For security uses, completes wipes HDD, any data is unrecoverable once used. Reputed to defeat all known forensic analysis.

ATItool (free) overclocking utilty for video cards, works on both NVidia and ATI cards despite its name.

RIVAtuner (free) similar to ATItool

Crystal CPUID - On the fly overclocking with multiplier management

Also those with AMD X2 CPU's don't forget to download and run AMD's dual core optimizer.

With the overclocking stuff, just take it easy and go little by little.

A link to each would be very beneficial rather then googling for us lazy bumps

Sorry I don't do that anymore. Look for the sites, learn what each does exactly, my descriptions are brief and they are not in depth. A direct link to downloads doesn't help users understand WTF these are for or help the understand how to use it. Used incorrectly some these programs can cause serious havoc. And I personally find it ridiculous that anyone is so lazy as to complain having to use copy, paste into a google search box to find a free program

Just curious if anyone can identify a program by its icon for me:

The one I'm interested in is that one with the fish, the second icon to the left of the Firefox one. It's a pretty snazzy icon when contrasted with Firefox, so I was wondering if it was some sort of offshoot of the Firefox project or something. Initial Googling didn't really come up with much.
