When were they uses as Blades?

In Belatorchika's Children?

Because I only saw them being used normally and the only other ability I saw in CCA out of the ordinary was the 360 degree beam shield.

UC beam shields are actually no different from beam blades; they are made from the same things, only shaped differently. The mobile suit programs the shield so that it deactivates parts of the shield should the MS's limbs get too close and in danger of amputating itself.

This is completely different to the CE beam shield, which is far more robust in defense but can't cut like a beam saber.

I knew a few of those details sans the 360 barrier having the actual potency of a normal UC beam weapon.

Still were the Fin Funnels ever used in that manner,to individually make a beam weapon for impaling and chopping?

might still be possible..the Zwei is the only one w/o a shield listed under its Armaments.
