Erm, it's just material from volumes 4 and 5. The OVA is a looooong way from being complete. I hope Geneon Japan doesn't go bust before it ends. :P

OMG! #4 was the best one so far. The music was great. The seiyuu were great.

Poor Rip. I felt so sorry for her. She was sacrificed to Alucard by her own group. Impaled by Alucard and her group watched it all on the big screen.

Kudos to Rip's seiyuu.

Ah! The sigh of satisfaction. No matter the type of various genre I enjoy, action aka Shounen takes precedent over everything else when a series can deliver... yeap.. action such as Hellsing. I'll watch it a few more times. Boy was it fun!!!

that being a virgin would be nothing to apologize for. Seras was one. That's how she got entangled in this mess. At least Integral won't be a ghoul if she is ever bitten.

You misunderstood.
Seras was apologizing for drinking blood that was of the highest-grade that a vampire could ever aimed for. It's one of those "I'm not worthy" kind of apology.

At the ship scene, Alucard ride SR-71 burns right after hard landing on the ship resembles a cross(Christ one).
Does it related to the old history on Alucard, who once believed Chirst before became vampire.

Max's war speech is there. The scene is surely representing his madness.

Next we will have Seras drinking blood on her own will, anyone?

The first song that Rip sings is Das Engelandlied. It is composed by Herms Niel, as a Nazi propaganda song for WW2. The words and lyrics were adapted from a German WW1 folk song written by Hermann Löns about German soldiers going off to England to fight. This song is also the ending theme for IV.

The second song Rip sings is taken from the opera Der Freischutz, by Carl Maria von Weber. It is in Act 1 Scene 2. It's part of the performance called "Oh, diese Sonne, furchtbar steigt sie empor!".

How did everyone watch it? Are some of you subscribers to Japanese TV, or did you find torrents? I can't seem to find anything regarding 4 on most of the download sites I frequent.

Spoiler for episode 4 thoughts:

fabulous episode. The Rip fight felt like a really nice change of pace from the previous volumes thanks to the music choice (though Hirano's slight change of art direction for alucard in volume 5 of the manga also helped), and glad they took the time to animate all 5 odd minutes of the "I love War" speech. Adding that blown out effect to the Major's broadcast to the round table was a nice touch. Also, switching between a few events at the beginning kept the episode really moving for the first 7 minutes, excellently executed.

On the negative side, the transition from the "isn't war fun alucard?" scene to the war speech is a little jarring, despite the subsequent cuts feeling perfectly fine, which is too bad. And Wakamoto feels like he's getting a little out of control with the yelling. I also somewhat worry how others are going to take the fact this episode has a whole lot of exposition and just general talking. (it is the source material though, so nothing to really complain about there)

Anywho, 6 to 12 months till the next one. Hope they'll manage to cover volume 6 and the majority of 7.

As Vlad, Alucard led a crusade against the Ottoman Empire. He believed that if him and his armies continued to fight and kill and die, God would eventually be amazed by their 'prayers', and come down from heaven, bringing Paradise with him.

However, eventually everyone died, his country was left in ruins, Vlad was captured and set to be executed, and God and his Paradise never came down. Vlad was no king, no servant of god, not even worth being called a human. Like the monologue he gave in episode 3, he'd destroyed everything. But for whatever reason (which was never said outright in the manga so far, and likely never will be) Vlad decided that even if he was completely beyond redemption, he should continue forward, never giving up. And so at his execution he renounced God and drank the blood of his slaughtered comrades, absorbing the blood of his entire country and becoming a true vampire in the process. And he has continued through an endless cycle of wars ever since.
